Feeling Fishy – Daily Update

Today my mood seemed to take a slight hit.  For some reason I seemed a bit more agitated than normal.  Not sure if it’s related to the diet or just everything else going on in my life, but I wasn’t in the best of moods today.  I woke up this morning, actually 20 minutes earlier than my normal time.  That gave me enough time to actually work on and enjoy my oatmeal.  Yesterday’s serving was basically gulped down as I was walking out of the door.   This morning, I decided to go the old fashioned route, a little milk and brown sugar.  MUCH improved over yesterdays, but also almost double the calories as well.  Still want to try the honey route recommended by a coworker – that sounds tasty.

I’m catholic, and still follow the catholic traditions.  Being that it’s currently the lenten season, I’m not allowed to have chicken, beef, pork, etc on Friday.  The only “meat” I’m allowed to have is seafood.  Being a seafood fanatic, this isn’t difficult for me, except when I’m dieting.  Usually, I’ll get some fried fish or shrimp, or get a fish sandwich from fast food.  This time, neither would work, so I needed to be creative.  Ultimately, I ended up going with coworkers to Applebee’s.  Applebee’s recently set up a “550 calories or less” menu, and I’ve been itching to try it out.  I found they had a seafood dish that looked particularly interesting: Spicy Shrimp Diavola.  Basically Shrimp, peppers a spicy red sauce over a bed of penne pasta.  It wasn’t as hot as I was expecting, but with a dash of Tobasco, it was just about perfect.   I’m not sure how many calories, but it was under 550, so I’ll take the max as the count for that meal.

Dinner ended up being MUCH later than I had originally planned.  I met up with some friends, and we eventually went to Dierberg’s to pick up some sushi and other items.  I ended up getting a plate of California Rolls with brown rice.  I did some research online and it looks like they’re only about 500 calories for the entire tray.  I might just start considering getting that for more meals.  Filling and delicious.

The really good news about today was my water consumption.  Over the course of the day, I consumed about 96oz of water – 1.5 gallons!  I was very impressed, and I know it helped keep hunger at bay throughout the day.

Anyway, it’s late – I’m up way after my regular bedtime.  G’night everyone!
