Finally got my oatmeal! – Daily Update

in Journal Entry,Thoughts

Today has gone pretty well. I finally woke up early enough to get the oatmeal I’ve been wanting. I made 1/2 cup with water, and added a bit of cinnamon sugar, though it really didn’t affect the flavor at all. I finished it, but didn’t find it nearly as tasty. Thoughout the day, I got several recommendations on how to improve the flavor. One idea someone told me was to use just a bit of honey and skim milk. I might be interested in giving that one a try… but I need to buy some honey. Nonetheless, I had my oatmeal, it was a LOT more than I was expecting, all for 150 cals (plus a bit for the cinammon). Need to see how many calories are in brown sugar, that might be a good bet as well. One thing I did notice, I wasn’t hungry at ALL until lunch. Usually I start getting a little rumble, but today I was perfectly satiated.

Lunch was once again St. Louis Bread company. This time I went for the Asiago Roast Beef with Black Bean Soup and an apple. All together it was a little over 500 calories, and probably more filling than my Chicken Caesar Salad. The sandwich itself was good, but not amazing. The soup, on the other hand, was absolutely fantastic. I think I could probably eat it for an entire meal, and would be entirely happy. I was still a tad bit hungry, so I chowed down on the apple as I returned to the office.

By the end of the day, I was starting to get hungry again. I had to work late, so I really started getting worried about dinner. The snacks in the kitchen started calling my name, but in the end, I held off. I made it home and decided to do something a bit different. I made my two chicken breasts as I have been doing, but added a bit of Sriracha chili sauce as well as some Tony Chachere’s seasoning. Hands down, it was absolutely the BEST chicken I’ve ever made – I was truly impressed! On the side I had steamed broccoli and cauliflower with just a bit of vegetable seasoning for flavor. Shortly after dinner, I started getting hungry, seems to always be the case. I decided to have an apple with a little bit of peanut butter. The peanut butter was full of calories, but it was a good little treat for doing so well the last few days. (Peanut butter is one of my MAJOR addictions, PB&J will always be my favorite sandwich).

Tonight, I’ve been seeing commercials for Jamie Oliver’s new show on ABC, “Food Revolution”. It looks like it might be pretty interesting, and I’m always interested in shows about eating healthy. Might get some new tips! Speaking of which, I still need to get finished with this week’s Biggest Loser, but I might end up just watching it this weeekend.

On a final note, I did my full 2L of water today. However, I got finished JUST after getting home from work. I need to keep that going, and not have to rely on refills from the office watercooler. I might consider picking up a Brita water filtration system this weekend. You know, the kind that looks like a pitcher that you put in the fridge. Used to have one years ago, and it used to work pretty well. I just can’t force myself to start buying bottled water, especially if I’m going to aim for MORE than a gallon of water each day. That can end up getting pretty expensive overall.

Anyway, going to call it a night. Going to finish watching a few shows on TV, then maybe play a little XBox before going to bed. G’night everyone!
