Day 82 – Dinner
This evening, I snuck out of the house and met some friends for dinner. I had to be at work in the morning, so I knew I couldn’t do anything too major and stay out all night. We decided to have Red Lobster for dinner, as seafood is a very healthy option and at least two of us were trying to eat decently. Being a “Free Day”, I wanted to give some other choices a try, but not go way overboard with anything.
My friend ordered the Southwest Lobster Rolls for an appetizer. If you aren’t familiar with them, they are pretty close to the Chili’s Southwestern Eggrolls, but in this case, filled with lobster, crawfish, black beans, corn, bell peppers and a spicy five-cheese blend. I just wanted a taste, so I had a single 1/2 serving. It was pretty good overall, and worth the “taste”. As for my salad, I ordered the standard garden salad with the Red Wine Vinaigrette dressing. Overall, the salad was exceptionally good, though it was just a warm up for dinner. During this time, I was frantically searching for calorie for all of my items, trying to determine how much I was eating this evening. I knew most of the items… the salmon, the biscuit, the salad… but could find nothing for the lobster roll or the seafood-stuffed flounder.
Eventually, the main course arrived, and the search took a back seat to dining. I’ve always been impressed with the food quality at Red Lobster, and tonight was no exception. The salmon was moist and tender. Unlike most of the salmon I’ve had recently, it wasn’t rich in extra flavor (ie Smoke or Seasonings), but the Salmon itself was very delicious. The Seafood-Stuffed Flounder was very good as well, with the stuffing reminding me slightly of the mirleton stuffing my mom makes back home. The wild rice pilaf was good, but nothing unlike any other rice pilafs that I’ve had a thousand times. I did slightly regret ordering that instead of the brocolli or veggies, but it was something different for a change.
Overall, the meal was fabulous. I was happy overall with my choices, and just needed to find the calories for the missing items. For the Southwest Lobster Rolls, I just went with the calories for the Chili’s Southwest Eggrolls, since they are ALMOST the same with just slightly different ingredients. The Chili’s version are 810 calories for 6 1/2 eggrolls… leaving the cost for a single half to be 135 calories. Also, when I got home, I was able to find a site that listed the “Seafood-Stuffed Flounder” at 395 calories. A bit more than I was hoping for, but I was still happy with my choices.

That brings my calorie total for today up to 2214 calories. Not a bad day overall, even for a “Free Day”. Next weekend though, I’m looking to do an extended “Free Weekend” of sorts, as there are several festivals in the area that I want to explore, and at least ONE is going to be very unhealthy for me… the annual Chili Cookoff at Westport Plaza! I’m already looking forward to that one!
