Fat Guy on a Diet

Success and Failures

This morning, during my weigh-in, I was down: 320.8 lbs!   I consider that a major success towards my goal, though I do realize weight does fluctuate quite a bit from day to day.  I’m just going to have to watch to make sure I keep it off.  Last night, I was doing some research, and read that 1200 calories is the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM that a person should consume over the course of a day.  I’d realized that I’ve been hovering a lot closer to the 1000 calorie range, so I decided to up my calorie intake a bit just before bed.  A had about 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, which come up to about 190 calories.  That brought my total for yesterday to just above 1200.

This morning, after the weigh-in, I was pretty excited to keep the progress moving forward, so I got my breakfast and morning snack together, and put it on the counter to grab a snapshot for the blog.  I then took the yogurt and ate while getting ready for work.  After getting ready, I grabbed the laptop and ran out of the door.  About 5 minutes from the office, I’d realized I forgot my drink and apple on the counter where I’d left them.  The lemonade I was going to bring could easily be replaced by a Diet Dr. Pepper in the office, however, the the apple, my mid-morning snack, cannot be.  This morning, someone decided to bring in the little Hostess Snack Donuts into the office and set them out in the breakroom.  For most of the morning, seeing everyone gobbling them down was not a problem.  About 10 minutes ago, my stomach started looking for the mid-morning snack, and it’s nowhere to be found.  What’s making things worse is that everyone is walking around eating these donuts, and the one thing that drives me crazier than ANYTHING is seeing or hearing someone eating when I’m hungry.

I’ve locked myself into my office and turned up the music in the hope that it will drown out the desire to eat.  I know I can get past this hurdle, it’s just going to be one of the toughest obstacles I’ve had to face so far on the diet.

So, the breakdown for breakfast is as follows:

  • Yoplait Yogurt – 110 calories
  • Diet Dr. Pepper – 0 calories

The photo will be uploaded shortly, once I have a few minutes to grab it off the camera and crop out the non-eaten items to show just the yogurt.
